  • Pinot Noir 2007

    Pinot Noir (2007)

Pinot Noir has been one of the hallmarks of Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard from the very beginning. Hermann quickly recognized that the Finger Lakes region was well suited to produce this traditional variety both for sparkling and still wine production. In 2007, the hot dry summer in Finger Lakes provided ideal ripening conditions for red wine grapes. The result was a stunning ruby red Pinot with rich black cherry notes. Maturation in oak barrels helped soften the tannins to provide a more delicate approach to the palate.

  • Cabernet Franc 2007

    Cabernet Franc (2007)

Cabernet Franc is quickly gaining a reputation as a star in the Finger Lakes. This grape is ideally suited for cool climate growing and produces a consistently ripe crop each vintage. Although it is often used as a base for a blend, this grape stands beautifully on its own as a full bodied wine. Grown in the warm confines of our Magdalena Vineyard site, a lengthy growing season produces exceptional depth of character. The deep color matches ripe fruit and earthy tones as a prelude to velvety firm tannins and rich black cherry flavor.

    Cabernet Franc Reserve (2007)

In select years, the exceptional flavors and characteristics of a wine give the potential for a Reserve selection that stands above the rest. In 2007, the Finger Lakes experienced an ideal warm vintage for this classic red variety. Fermented in small lots and aged in a mix of new and old French oak barrels, this wine exhibits phenomenal color and structure. Robust plum and red berry scents open up beautifully in the glass while firm, round tannins sumptuously coat the mouth. Look for this Cabernet to age gracefully.

    Dry Rose

The tradition of blending wines dates back centuries and takes patience and talent to perfect. The Dry Rosé cleverly blends together Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, and Chardonnay to create an approachable wine. Additional complexity is gained by matching the flavors and maturity from an earlier vintage with the youth and vigor of a newer vintage. Brilliant raspberry notes open up to a full bodied dry rosé with a savory palate. Enjoy year round as a compliment to food or by itself.

  • Merlot 2007

    Merlot (2007)

As a grape traditionally reserved for more temperate regions, Merlot represents a relatively small portion of our vineyard plantings. Often used as part of our redblend, Merlot is only bottled on its own in ideal vintages. The hot and dry summer in 2007 provided perfect ripening conditions to create a beautiful stand alone Merlot. A beautiful deep red colorsuggests a full, round body. The fruit forward nose leads gracefully into the lush taste of black currant
