Blaufränkisch – the new red varietal of the Finger Lakes? Here at Hermann J. Wiemer, we have had Blaufränkisch planted since 1999. Formerly labeled as Lemberger here at the winery (Lemberger is the German pronunciation of the grape while Blaufränkisch is what the Austrians prefer to call it), we have a storied history with this late ripening variety that has proven itself vintage after vintage. Join our winemaker Dillon Buckley as he takes you down the path of where we’ve gone with Blaufränkisch over the years – from blends, single varietal expressions and even rosé!
