Part of the beauty of winemaking is the knowledge that as soon as a bottle leaves our doors, it can find its way to a dinner table and be shared and enjoyed alongside a lovely meal. We delight in hearing stories about particular pairings that were delicious with our wines, as they inspire us not only in our own kitchens, but in the farm, cellar, and tasting room as well!
With the help of some very talented friends from both the photography world and a culinary home cook extraordinaire, we were able to document a firsthand account of our wine being paired with a home-cooked meal that features traditional Indian flavors, spices, and cooking techniques! We followed Natasha Mathias & Ian Somaiya from the market to their home in New Jersey, where they prepared and shared a meal of five-spice lamb chops, stuffed okra, yellow lentils, and cumin rice paired with our Flower Day Riesling. Not only was the meal vibrant and delicious, but Natasha sat down with us and shared how and why she learned to cook after moving from Bangalore to the U.S. in her early 20s, her favorite wine pairing thoughts, and she even wrote out the recipes and cooking techniques that she incorporated to create this meal.
